Passage Brief

This passage is split into 2 legs. Firstly the 550 nm leg to Fakarava Atoll in the Tuamotus Archipelago. Where we will stop to immerse ourselves in paradise for two days and then continue on the final leg of 250 nm to Tahiti. The Tuamotus Archipelago encompasses an area larger than Western Europe, the Tuamotus are the longest chain of atolls in the world.

Prevailing conditions along this route will see us moving along comfortably in the South Pacific Trades on a beam reach with a close watch for squall activity. Expect plenty of action from Spinnaker and Mizzen Staysail down to a reef or two and back again. Along with some awesome fishing.

Navigation through the Archipelago being not only a highlight of this passage but also adds the opportunity to refine all the skills associated with plotting, manoeuvring and handling of a yacht under sail through narrow and sparsely marked reef channels.
