An offshore sail training and skill development, mile building voyage
Passage Brief
The 3,050 nautical mile passage from the Galápagos to the Marquesas will probably be the longest of most sailors careers. also often the most memorable. Along which we will be focusing on the journey rather than the destination. So soak up the rare opportunity to commune deeply with nature, and experience a rare solitude and reaffirming self-reliance, which is a core virtue of blue water sailing.

Sailing from the Galápagos to the Marquesas, with the prevailing South Pacific Trade Winds and the complimenting South Equatorial Current we will be experiencing our best noon-to-noon runs on a broad reach, the point of sail Ave Maria excels in, as most boats do.

Marquesas Islands will appear on the horizon with a geography so dramatic as to be somewhat forbidding with towering rock spires, dense jungle and precipitous waterfalls. These islands have been protected from rampant development by a crushing remoteness and therefore arguably remain the cultural heart of Polynesia.

Prevailing conditions along this route will see us moving along comfortably in the South Pacific Trades on a beam reach with a watch for squall activity. Expect to be flying a Spinnaker and Mizzen Staysail making good speed comfortably. Enjoying some awesome fishing along the way.
